Afternoon tea at Holbeach Meadows

16 August 2023

Afternoon tea at Holbeach Meadows

Last week at Holbeach Meadows, residents had a busy weekend and celebrated both Afternoon Tea Week and National Prosecco Day!

The residents created some beautiful flower arrangements in craft club, baking club made fruit scones and the catering department provided finger sandwiches and cakes as we came together on Friday afternoon for our own Afternoon Tea.  During the week residents reminisced about their own experiences of Afternoon Tea. We were very impressed to hear one resident’s story of her Afternoon Tea experience at the world-famous The Ritz Hotel London, the setting, the piano music playing in the background and her special memories of the waiter who kept refilling the cake stand.

On Saturday, our cooking club pulled out the stops again and made pizzas for everyone’s tea, chopping the toppings, rolling out the dough and putting it all together made great use of our life skills and fine motor skills, all closely watched over by our resident Italian and pizza expert who gave it all a thumbs up.

To round off the week, we popped open some bubbles and residents swapped their usual pre-lunch Sherry for a glass of Prosecco for their Sunday morning social, as we celebrated National Prosecco Day!   A delicious Sunday roast followed with an afternoon of board games, dominoes and old favourites in the cinema – what a perfect way to spend a day!
